01Recognize the Bow islet before landing
Sail through the waters between main islands and inspect small radar markers as they appear. Look for archery targets on surrounding rocks, then the small circular stone wall on the central islet. The robed NPC and weapon displays identify the shop. Germany328’s 1.1.1 guide and independent launch-day Steam replies agree on this castle-like landmark.
If you land beside an oil-barrel bridge or tall parkour pillars, use the landmark check to resume your search for the archery targets. Patch 1.1.2 enlarged the mini-island radar dots; update first if you are still using the earlier display. Community routes describe finding these stops while sailing, so follow new radar markers and visible targets when an older video’s sailing directions do not match.
02Buy the weapon before its arrow and quiver upgrades
The archery shop has separate Bow, arrow and quiver offers in Germany328’s route. Check the label before buying so the first purchase is the weapon. Compare its displayed € price with your euro wallet, then reserve enough currency for it before choosing optional upgrades.
If you need euros, sell Money in a Bottle from the tiny single-palm sand island, or defeat and sell catches made with Crab Carcass from the three-patch sand islet. Community merchant reports support selling euro loot to an ordinary merchant along your route. Confirm the € offer before accepting it, then return with the balance the Bow’s purchase prompt requires.
- Read the label and € offer on the Bow display at the archery islet.
- If short of euros, sell bottle money or Crab Carcass catches and check the increased euro balance.
- Use the Bow’s purchase interaction, then equip the weapon and confirm its input prompts appear.
- Choose arrow or quiver upgrades afterward if you still want them; the next achievement step is an arrow kill.
03Turn the Bow purchase into a Hobin Rood attempt
Use an ordinary non-quest catch you can manage for the first attempt. Steam’s condition is a creature killed with an arrow, so the result to check is the kill. Buying the weapon, firing at a target or hitting a living creature does not finish that step.
As an editorial approach, weaken the creature with your usual weapon if needed, then stop and leave the finishing hit to the Bow. In co-op, agree on one target and ask the crew to let you finish it. This keeps the attempt easy to identify and avoids using an active quest trigger for practice.
- Choose an expendable ordinary catch and keep any quest creatures aside.
- Equip the Bow, follow its fire and reload prompts and verify that an arrow can be fired.
- Let an arrow deliver the finishing hit; keep teammates from finishing that target during the attempt.
- Check Hobin Rood in Steam, then mark the checklist after the unlock.
04If the Bow does not fire, check the equipped weapon and Reload
Start by checking that you bought and equipped the Bow itself. An arrow or quiver upgrade purchase is a different offer. With the weapon equipped, read its current ready, fire and reload prompts and complete the reload or ready step shown by the game.
If an older keyboard instruction fails, open the binding settings and inspect Reload. Patch 1.1.2 added reload rebinding. Use your own assigned input, especially after changing bindings or using a controller, then return to one ordinary creature for a clear test.
05If Hobin Rood does not unlock after a hit
Arrow hits but no Hobin Rood unlock: repeat on one ordinary creature and watch for the arrow’s finishing hit. Keep your own follow-up attacks and teammates away from that final hit. Then inspect the Steam achievement itself before marking the browser checklist.
The launch-day Steam discussion contains successful arrow unlock reports after an initial complaint, so it is useful as route evidence rather than a current bug diagnosis. If a clear arrow kill still fails, note your game version, input device and solo or co-op setup when reporting it. Handyman remains a separate final-boss bare-hands goal.

What this guide can confirm
- The purchase location, separate shop offers and launch-day arrow reports were re-read in Germany328’s 1.1.1 guide and Steam discussions on 2026-10-21. They are attributed player routes, not this wiki’s own playthrough.
- The suggested ordinary-target and final-hit workflow is editorial advice based on Steam’s arrow-kill condition, not a claimed independent unlock test.
- Official 1.1.2 and Steam achievement data were rechecked on 2026-10-21. They confirm reload rebinding and the arrow-kill condition. The current purchase prompt remains the budget check; no damage ranking or DPS calculation is adopted.
