Catch log

All Fish, Lures & Locations

To work through all documented How to Fish catches, start with the creature name, then match its rod and lure or special boss bait. Regular catches are reported to follow equipment pools more reliably than a single fixed map spot, while bosses also need the correct encounter location. The table below keeps those two jobs separate and preserves the few reported location disagreements instead of hiding them.

01Use this as a base-catch reference, not a guessed completion counter

The current community cross-check maps 49 base catches: 38 regular catches and 11 bosses or mini-bosses. Steam confirms the separate Collector goal is to find and kill all creatures, but it does not publish a matching full creature table. That makes this page a dated field reference rather than an official database. Its route data is cross-checked through Patch 1.0.11, while Patch 1.0.12 names a Tuna balance change but no roster, lure or trigger change.

A base catch, a rare variant and a Drip entry are not interchangeable labels. Fishipedia’s official achievement wording asks for all Drip creatures, while Collector refers to all creatures. Do not mark a normal catch as a Drip completion just because the name appears in the same row here. Open the in-game encyclopedia with Tab to confirm what your own save still needs.

02Regular catches are equipment-first

The reliable first test for a regular missing entry is the rod and lure pair, not a long search for an exact shoreline. Community lists consistently place Free and Hot Dog pools early, then Beginner, Standard, Professional and Scientific pools as the route opens. An island in the table means the normal progression association, not a guarantee that the catch cannot appear elsewhere. This distinction matters most when revisiting an older lure pool late in a run.

Keep the older lure equipped until the target appears rather than assuming the newest shop item is an upgrade for every collection job. Pike and Goldfish are reported as overlapping early pools, so a second listed lure is not an error or a reason to delete the first. Angelfish has conflicting location reports, but the shared recommendation is to begin with the Standard Lure. The row notes call out those exceptions so you can test the common setup before changing islands.

03Bosses are encounter chains, not ordinary catch pools

A boss row always needs more than a general lure tier. Some use shop Boss Lures, while Spider Crab, Giant Piranha, Pufferfish, Albatross and the Whale chain use a quest item or another creature. Preserve unusual bait and the defeated trigger creature until the next quest step is clear. Selling a Tuna or Bowhead Whale immediately can force you to repeat the setup for the following encounter.

The final Volcano chain deserves special care because Bowhead Whale leads into the Mutated Bowhead Whale encounter. This page records the reported trigger sequence but does not prescribe weapon damage, health values or a universal solo strategy. Use the Final Boss guide for the route and keep its combat advice separated from this collection lookup. The same split prevents a broad table from pretending it can solve every boss fight.

04Why sell values and Drip odds are not listed

A useful collection table should not fill empty cells with values copied from one unverified list. Base sale value can be affected by cooking, kill-score effects and patches, while the available sources do not provide a single first-party, current value table to audit line by line. This reference therefore prioritizes the action that gets a catch on the hook. A numeric value will only be added when its base-state scope and version can be documented.

The same restraint applies to rare and Drip odds. Steam discussions confirm players are hunting specific Drip forms, but community experience is not a published probability model. Treat long dry streaks as a reason to recheck rod and lure, not as proof of an exact drop-rate claim. If a patch changes a catch pool or an in-game inspection contradicts this table, keep the screenshot and report the correction with the version number.

05Turn a missing entry into a short test

First, read the missing name in Tab and search it below. Equip the listed rod and bait, then use the associated stage as your first testing area rather than a permanent coordinate. For a regular catch, continue using that pool before swapping to a newer lure. For a boss, reread the active quest and make sure the special bait has not been sold, cooked or left behind.

When a result disagrees with the table, record the build number, solo or co-op state, rod, lure and island before drawing a conclusion. That small record is more valuable than a vague claim that a fish is bugged because it lets another player reproduce the setup. The site treats player reports as community evidence until they are independently checked. This is how the reference can become more complete without becoming less trustworthy.

Evidence boundary

What this guide can confirm

  • Steam global achievements: Collector requires finding and killing all creatures, while Fishipedia requires finding and killing all Drip creatures.
  • Community cross-checks published for Patch 1.0.9 through 1.0.11 agree on 49 base catches: 38 regular catches plus 11 bosses or mini-bosses.
  • Exact prices, odds, damage and health are intentionally excluded because this source set does not establish a stable, first-party table for those values.
  • Official Patch 1.0.12 names a Tuna balance change but no roster, lure or trigger change for the community catch table.
